CHAPTER ONE
The Call to Intimacy
Firstly, I would like to give glory to Almighty God-my Father for showing me so much love and in His compassion has drawn me close to Him. It is a huge privilege to be called into a walk of intimacy with our Abba.
John 6:44 (AMP)
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him {giving him the desire to come to Me}; and I will raise him up {from the dead} on the last day.”
I have often wondered what the next phase of my life after was accepting this call to a deeper relationship with God. I began seeking ways to strengthen my love life with the One who first loved me. Day after day, I listened to sermons of anointed men of God and studying the word of God, my prayer life improved tremendously.
In that state of excitement, I was willing to share my story with anyone who cared to listen. However, I imagined some of the questions an unbeliever may ask to be convinced to follow the same path.
- Why are you a Christian?
- What does it mean to be born again?
- When we say we have Zoe (the life of God) in us, what does it mean?
- When we say that we are overcomers, do we really understand what we are declaring?
- If we believe in the word of God & His word incarnate (Jesus Christ), then why are we not operating in the power of the word?
- How come we have all these and our impact as Christians is not felt in this corrupt world?
I have asked these questions and many more.
Now as believers, who have been brought into the light, you’ll agree with me that the world in its current state signifies that it has been overwhelmed by darkness.
Isaiah 8:22 AMP
‘22Then they will look to the earth, they will see only distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be driven away into darkness and overwhelming night.’
In this season, there is a move of God birthing an awakening for Christians to strive for spiritual maturity in God. Believers need to grow into and rise as men or sons of God (Born of God); men and women that represent God’s interest in a generation.
Many believers have accepted salvation but have not fully understood the purpose behind their calling. God did not save us merely so we could escape destruction; He saved us so that we may become expressions of His nature in the earth.
It has become urgent for the body of Christ to awaken believers to the deeper truths of fellowship with God in the realities of this world. Christianity was never designed to be shallow, powerless, or merely ceremonial. It was designed to transform ordinary men into witnesses of God’s glory.
A growing hunger is rising in the hearts of believers across nations. Many are beginning to realize that religious routines alone cannot satisfy the deepest longing of the human spirit. Programs, activities, and traditions can never replace true intimacy with God.
The Father is calling His people back to the secret place.
He is calling believers into deeper fellowship, greater consecration, spiritual maturity, and kingdom manifestation.
This call is not for a selected few. It is for every believer willing to yield fully to God.
The journey into intimacy is the beginning of becoming. This subject is consistent with God’s plan and a major component in the Gospel we preach.
