CHAPTER THREE

The Transforming Power of the Gospel

This component bothers on the “becoming” of Christians/believers. We can’t discover who we are until we find God because it is Him our essence is defined.

John 1:10-13 AMP says:

‘10He (Christ) was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. 11He came to that which was His own [that which belonged to Him—His world, His creation, His possession], and those who were His own [people—the Jewish nation] did not receive and welcome Him. 12But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name— [Is 56:5] 13who were born, not of blood [natural conception], nor of the will of the flesh [physical impulse], nor of the will of man [that of a natural father], but of God [that is, a divine and supernatural birth—they are born of God—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified].’

2 Corinthians 3:18 AMP also says:

‘18And we all, with unveiled faces, continually seeing as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are progressively being transformed into His image from [one degree of] glory to [even more] glory, which comes from the Lord, [who is] the Spirit.’

There is a stature that believers attain when they become Sons (born by the Spirit of God).

Acts 1:8 AMP says:

‘8But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”’

1 John 4:17 AMP says:

‘17In this [union and fellowship with Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.’

God is not only seen in the bible but through and in us all.

The transforming power of the Gospel causes believers to move from spiritual blindness into divine understanding. Before encountering Christ, many people define themselves according to culture, background, achievements, failures, or human opinions. But true identity can only be discovered in God.

Transformation is one of the greatest evidences of salvation. When a man genuinely encounters Christ, his desires begin to change, his thinking begins to change, and his priorities begin to align with the will of God.

This process does not happen instantly in every area of life, but it begins immediately through the work of the Holy Spirit.

God is not merely interested in improving behavior externally. He desires inward transformation.

The believer begins to see life differently. Sin no longer becomes attractive. The things of God become desirable. Prayer becomes a necessity. The word of God becomes life.

As believers continue to behold Christ through fellowship, prayer, worship, and the ministry of the word, they are progressively transformed into His image.

This is the journey from spiritual infancy into maturity.

The believer is not called merely to admire Christ from a distance but to become like Him.

This is the essence of becoming.
