CHAPTER FOUR
THE MOUNTAIN OF GOD
Where Destiny Is Equipped
" Daniel 2:20–22 AMP Daniel answered, 'Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him. "It is He who changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and establishes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise And [greater] knowledge to those who have understanding! [Dan 4:35]. "It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. [Job 15:8; Ps 25:14; Matt 6:6]'"
EVERY CALLING BEGINS ON THE MOUNTAIN
Throughout Scripture, God has consistently followed one divine pattern.
Before He entrusts a man with a public assignment, He first calls him into private fellowship.
This pattern never changes.
We often admire the visible ministries of God's servants, but we seldom see the hidden years that prepared them. We celebrate the victories, yet overlook the wilderness. We applaud the miracles, yet forget the mountain.
God's greatest work is never what He does through a man.
His greatest work is what He accomplishes within that man before anyone else ever sees him.
The mountain of God is His workshop.
It is where He shapes character before releasing authority.
It is where He strengthens faith before entrusting responsibility.
It is where He enlarges spiritual capacity before unveiling divine purpose.
Far too many believers desire the assignment without embracing the preparation.
Yet heaven never separates the two.
THE MOUNTAIN IS THE PLACE OF DIVINE EQUIPPING
In my original message, I described this as THE EQUIPPING.
The more I meditate on this truth, the more convinced I become that many believers misunderstand the purpose of God's presence.
Some seek His presence merely to feel peace.
Others seek Him only for answers to life's problems.
Still others come because they desire His blessings.
While God certainly gives peace, answers, and blessings, these are not the primary purpose of the secret place.
The secret place is God's training ground.
It is there that He equips His people for the assignments He prepared before the foundation of the world.
The mountain is not an escape from responsibility.
It is preparation for responsibility.
Every encounter with God should leave us more like Christ and more prepared to fulfil His will.
If our time in His presence only comforts us but never changes us, then we have misunderstood why He called us there.
HEAVEN ALREADY KNOWS YOUR ASSIGNMENT
One of the most encouraging truths in Scripture is that God never improvises.
Nothing catches Him by surprise.
Nothing takes Him unaware.
Daniel declares:
"It is He who changes the times and the seasons..."
History does not unfold by accident.
Nations rise and fall under His sovereign authority.
Kings come and go according to His purposes.
Empires flourish for a season and disappear.
Yet throughout every generation, God's eternal plan continues without interruption.
The same is true of your life.
Your calling did not begin on the day you discovered it.
It began in the heart of God long before you were born.
Long before you drew your first breath...
Long before your parents knew your name...
Long before your circumstances appeared to define you...
God already knew why He created you.
Nothing about your life is accidental.
The enemy may attempt to delay your destiny.
People may misunderstand your calling.
Circumstances may appear contrary.
But none of these can cancel what God has ordained.
The responsibility of the believer is not to invent purpose.
It is to discover the purpose already established in heaven.
That discovery happens on the mountain.
THE GOD WHO REVEALS HIDDEN THINGS
Daniel continues:
"It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him."
This verse has become increasingly precious to me.
Notice that Daniel does not say God occasionally discovers hidden things.
He says God reveals them.
There is a significant difference.
Nothing is hidden from God.
Only from us.
What appears mysterious to us is perfectly clear to Him.
The future that produces anxiety in us has already been seen by Him.
The decisions that confuse us are already understood by Him.
The battles that intimidate us never threaten Him.
God is never searching for information.
He possesses complete knowledge.
Therefore, the purpose of prayer is not to inform God.
Prayer positions us to receive what He already knows.
Every time we enter the secret place, we are coming before the One who already knows tomorrow better than we know today.
How foolish it would be to live independently of such wisdom.
GOD IS RAISING AN ARMY
As I have prayed over these Scriptures, one conviction continues to grow within my heart.
God is raising an army.
Not an army defined by titles.
Not an army built upon personalities.
Not an army impressed by numbers.
He is raising men and women who know Him.
Believers whose private lives carry more weight than their public appearances.
People who have learned obedience in the hidden place.
Men and women who value God's approval above human applause.
This is not merely another generation of church attendees.
This is a generation of disciples.
A generation whose greatest ambition is to please Christ.
The battles before the Church cannot be won merely by better programmes, greater resources, or stronger personalities.
They will be won by believers who carry the presence of God.
Throughout history, every genuine move of God began with ordinary people who spent extraordinary time in His presence.
Revival has never begun with methods.
It has always begun with men and women whose hearts were wholly surrendered to God.
HEAVEN IS LOOKING FOR AVAILABLE VESSELS
The Scriptures declare:
"2 Chronicles 16:9 AMP For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth so that He may support those whose heart is completely His."
This verse is deeply humbling.
God is actively searching.
He is not searching for the most educated.
Nor the wealthiest.
Nor the most talented.
He is searching for hearts.
Completely His.
This should encourage every believer.
God's qualification is not human ability.
It is wholehearted devotion.
Many believers disqualify themselves because they compare their gifts with others.
Yet throughout Scripture, God repeatedly chose unlikely people.
A shepherd boy.
A reluctant prophet.
A fisherman.
A tax collector.
A former persecutor of the Church.
The common thread was never their ability.
It was their availability.
God does not ask us to become extraordinary before He uses us.
He asks us to surrender.
The extraordinary work belongs to Him.
EQUIPPING BEFORE SENDING
One of the greatest dangers in ministry is moving before God has completed His work within us.
Our generation often celebrates visibility.
God celebrates maturity.
The world asks,
"What can you do?"
God asks,
"Who are you becoming?"
Ministry without intimacy produces exhaustion.
Leadership without character produces collapse.
Influence without humility produces pride.
Power without holiness becomes dangerous.
This is why God insists on the mountain.
He refuses to send people He has not first prepared.
His delays are not punishment.
They are protection.
His waiting seasons are not wasted years.
They are years of divine formation.
Looking back, many of us can now thank God for prayers He delayed answering.
Had He granted them immediately, we would not have possessed the character to sustain the blessing.
His wisdom always exceeds our timing.
THE SECRET PLACE IS WHERE HEAVEN TRUSTS YOU
There is a remarkable truth that every believer must understand.
God entrusts greater responsibility to those who prove faithful in private.
Hidden faithfulness precedes public fruitfulness.
No one becomes spiritually mature overnight.
It is developed through countless unseen moments of obedience.
Moments when no one applauds.
Moments when no one notices.
Moments when only God sees.
These are the moments that shape destiny.
The mountain teaches us that significance is not measured by visibility.
It is measured by faithfulness.
The believer who faithfully seeks God in secret carries a strength that cannot be manufactured publicly.
Such a life becomes an instrument through which heaven confidently accomplishes its purposes.
