DAY 49
The Invitation Still Stands
| READ Revelation 4:1 |
DEVOTIONAL
As we arrive at the final part of this devotional, I want you to pause for a moment. Before you close these pages... Before you move on to the next book... Before you return to the demands of everyday life... Listen once more to the voice that has echoed throughout this entire journey. "Come up hither." These are not merely words spoken to the Apostle John. They are the heartbeat of the Father. They are His continual invitation to every generation. His invitation has never changed. He called Adam. He called Abraham.
He called Moses. He called David. He called Isaiah. He called the apostles. Today, He is calling you. Not into a religion. Not into a denomination. Not merely into ministry. He is calling you into Himself. Everything else begins there. Beloved, Do not settle. Do not become distracted. Do not become weary. Do not allow familiarity to rob you of your hunger for God. Guard your secret place. Protect your intimacy. Remain in His Word. Remain in prayer. Remain humble. Remain teachable. Remain yielded. Remain full of the Holy Spirit.
Love Jesus more deeply tomorrow than you do today. Pursue Him until His thoughts become your thoughts. His heart becomes your heart. His burden becomes your burden. His joy becomes your joy. Stay on the mountain until He sends you. Stay in His presence until His glory rests upon you. Stay before His face until the world begins to see Jesus in you. Remember, God is not looking for perfect people. He is looking for available people. Completely surrendered people. People who will answer when He says, "Come up hither."
REFLECT
1. Where is the Holy Spirit inviting you to remain hungry, surrendered, and faithful until Christ is fully formed in you?
2. What is one response you can make today rather than postponing?
PRAY
Father, thank You for Your unending invitation to know You. Thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your marvelous light. Thank You for opening the way into Your presence through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Today I respond once again to Your call. I surrender my ambitions. I surrender my fears. I surrender my plans. I surrender my future. Everything I am, belong to You. Draw me deeper into the secret place. Teach me to love what You love. Break my heart with the things that break Yours.
Purify my motives. Strengthen my faith. Renew my mind. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit. May my life continually reflect the beauty of Jesus Christ. Teach me to value Your presence above success, Your voice above every other voice, Your will above my own desires, and Your glory above my own reputation. Keep me faithful until the day I stand before You. May I never lose my hunger for Your presence. May I never become satisfied with yesterday's encounter.
Continue drawing me from glory to glory until Christ is fully formed within me. If You are looking throughout the earth for a heart that is completely Yours, let my heart be found among them. If You are raising a generation that will manifest Your glory, let my life become part of that testimony. And when my journey on this earth is complete, may I hear those precious words: "Well done, good and faithful servant." Until that glorious day, I choose to remain in the secret place.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He awaken within you an insatiable hunger for His presence. May your secret place become your dwelling place. May your life reveal the beauty of Christ to a watching world. May your prayers carry heaven's authority. May your heart remain tender before Him. May your hands remain clean. May your spirit remain yielded. May His glory rest upon your life.
And may you answer, every day of your life, the eternal invitation of the Father: "Come up hither." To God alone be all the glory. Amen.
