BECOMING: FINDING GOD IN THE SECRET PLACE DEVOTIONAL EDITION

DAY 8

God Is Always Calling

READ Revelation 4:1

DEVOTIONAL

One of the greatest truths revealed throughout Scripture is that God has always been the One who initiates relationship with man. Long before Adam sought God after the fall, God came walking in the garden looking for Adam. Before Moses climbed Mount Horeb, God appeared in the burning bush. Before Samuel recognized God's voice, God had already called his name. Before Saul of Tarsus became Paul the Apostle, Christ met him on the road to Damascus. This is the heartbeat of God. He is always calling.

The tragedy is not that God has stopped speaking. The tragedy is that many believers have stopped listening. Heaven has never become silent. God has never withdrawn His invitation. The Holy Spirit continues to whisper to every hungry heart, "Come higher." Not because God desires distance from us, but because He desires intimacy with us. His invitation has never been to religion. It has always been to relationship.

REFLECT

1. Where is the Holy Spirit inviting you to recognize that God is still calling you?

2. What competing voice, habit, fear, or desire needs to become quieter so that this truth can shape you?

PRAY

Father, thank You that You are still calling me closer. Open my ears to recognize Your voice above the noise, distractions, and demands around me. Keep me from reducing my walk with You to religion, and give me a willing heart that answers, 'Here I am,' whenever You invite me deeper. In Jesus' name, Amen.

PRACTICE

Set aside 10-15 unhurried minutes today. Ask God to help you recognize that God is still calling you. Write down one truth to carry and one concrete act of obedience.
